In 1880, Dr Durif at the University of Montpellier crossed a Syrah with a Peloursin vine creating the much loved Durif. The grape has very tightly packed clusters of very small berries resulting in a very high skin to flesh ratio with a deep purple colour.When we put the wine into new oak barrels we often get lovely chocolate, blueberries, plums and black pepper aroma.

As this is a full-bodied wine, we enjoy with robust full flavoured dishes such as hearty beef casseroles, venison, rabbit and duck.
