Durif 2012 – 750mls 13.4% Serve between 16-18 degrees
In 1880, Dr. Durif at the University of Montpellier crossed a Syrah with a Peloursin vine creating the much loved Durif. The grape has very tightly packed clusters of very small berries resulting in a very high skin to flesh ratio with a deep purple color. When we put the wine into new oak barrels we often get lovely chocolate, blueberries, plums, and black pepper aroma.
As this is a full-bodied wine, we enjoy robust full-flavored dishes such as hearty beef casseroles, venison, rabbit, and duck.
